I cannot make art unless the process of making is relaxing and enjoyable. I aim for finished works that are beautiful and meaningful, but I will only work towards that aim if I find delight in every brushstroke along the way. Based on this, I find my artist identity closer to the overachieving amateur than the serious and professional artist. 

I enjoy working in small formats, usually on paper, using quick and convenient mediums such as watercolors, inks, pens, and markers. Most of my artworks are landscapes, scenes that combine abstractions of natural and architectural elements. Because I always work in series, the impact of these artworks is best experienced when viewed together. Every series has a different geometric language, compositional logic, and color palette. I think of each series as a journey, either a physical one of a human walking through changing landscapes, or an aesthetic journey that documents the continuous invention of new ways of combining colors, shapes, patterns, and textures. 

As for what I hope to achieve, first, I hope that the viewer finds visual delight in my work. Second, I hope that the viewer is in some way moved by their contemplation of each series. Perhaps, their spirit is stirred by a mood that permeates a series, and perhaps their heart is touched by an emotion found in a second, and perhaps their mind is excited by a philosophical position implied by a third. 

كلمة الفنان

لا أصنع الفن إلا إذا كانت عملية الصناعة مريحة وممتعة. أهدف لأعمال فنية ذات معنى وجمال، إلا أنني لن أعمل نحو هذا الهدف إن لم أجد المتعة في كل جرّة للفرشاة. بناءً على ذلك، فإنني أرى أنّ شخصيتي الفنية أقرب إلى الهاوي المندفع منها إلى الفنان المحترف والجاد.

أحب أن أرسم على أوراق صغيرة باستخدام مواد سريعة ومعروفة، مثل الألوان المائية والأحبار وأقلام الحبر والألوان الشينية. أكثر أعمالي هي لمناظر تجمع الأشكال الطبيعية والمعمارية المجردة. ولأنني دائماً ما أنتج أعمالي في مجموعات متكاملة فإن الطريقة الأمثل للتعرف عليها تكون من خلال تأمّلها مع بعضها البعض. لكل مجموعة خواصها، مثل لغتها الهندسية ومنطق تركيب عناصرها وطيف ألوانها. فكأن كلاً من هذه المجموعات رحلة، إما هي رحلة لإنسان ينتقل بين الأماكن ويرى مختلف المشاهد، وإما هي رحلة جمالية توثق حركة الفنان المستمرة في اكتشاف طرقٍ جديدةٍ لجمع الألوان والأشكال والنقشات.

أما بالنسبة إلى ما أتمنى تحقيقه، فأولاً، أريد أن يجد الناظر متعة بصرية حين التمعن في أعمالي. ثانياً، أريد أن تترك مجموعاتي الفنية نوعاً من الأثر في الناظر، فلربما اهتزت روحه لمزاجٍ وجده في أحد المجموعات، ولربما ذاب قلبه في شعورٍ يطغى على مجموعة ثانية، ولربما انتعش عقله لفكرة فلسفية مضمونة في مجموعة ثالثة.
